Trimble R8 Base and Rover Quick Setup Guide
A nine-page guide with many photos and screen snaps providing setup and basic operating instructions for a Trimble R8 base/rover package, including the procedure for utilizing an accurate OPUS solution to improve the georeferenced accuracy of the work.
Configuring Trimble R8 to Output Serial Data
Detailed instructions for configuring a Trimble R8 GNSS receiver so it outputs serial data through one of its serial ports. Common uses for serial data are providing real-time position information to a depth sounder with position-logging capability or a computer running a map-display program. It is expected that these instructions will work with the Trimble 5800, Trimble R6, and Trimble R4 receivers, but we have not had access to those models for testing.
Resetting Trimble GPS/GNSS Receivers
Instructions for resetting the Trimble GPS/GNSS survey receivers beginning with the Trimble 4700 which was introduced in 1998.
Installing Receive Frequencies
Instructions for installing receive frequencies in Trimble internal radio modems in Trimble GPS/GNSS receivers beginning with the Trimble 5700.
Updating Receiver Firmware
Detailed instructions for updating firmware in Trimble GPS/GNSS receivers beginning with the Trimble 4800 which was introduced in 1997. Includes information on finding and downloading the correct WinFlash version and performing the firmware update.
Setting the Data-Logging Interval of a Trimble 5700 GPS Receiver
Detailed instructions for configuring a Trimble 5700 GPS receiver so it logs postprocessing data at a measurement interval other than the default 15 seconds when starting data logging by pressing the Data button on the receiver front panel. The user can also set the elevation mask to something other than the default 13 degrees. It is expected that these instructions will work with the Trimble R5 and Trimble R7 receivers, but we have not been able to confirm that to date. Includes information on downloading the latest version of GPS Configurator.
Submitting files from Trimble 4800 to OPUS
Details on a couple of solutions to problems that are sometimes encountered when sending data files from a Trimble 4800 GPS receiver to the National Geodetic Survey's OPUS site. At times the DAT files from the Trimble 4800 have worked fine without any changes, but we still receive problem reports from time to time.
